About a year or so ago, I went and visited an old house with my aunt, cousin (and best friend) Amber, my aunts boyfriend and my other cousin Ferriah. The house was built in the 1800s and was my ancestors house. It was beautiful with small empty ponds that were filled with just leaves around it, and even a well was behind it. It even had a secret passage way that slaves hid in underneath the house.
I heard a lot of stories about the place being haunted, even my grandmother told me one of them. She said that when she lived there, the bolted windows would fly open then close with fierce, and the cabinets would do the same. It was a constant thing she told me. So one day we decided to go there and see if anything would happen. The first day we went, all the windows were boarded up (except the second story windows), so we couldn’t find a way to get inside (the doors were locked). But my aunts boyfriend looked through a tiny window that wasn’t boarded and also had a small hole in it and claimed to have seen a black figure. I didn’t see anything because everyone else was crowded against the window. But then he said that it had walked away. Even my aunt said she had seen it.
The second time we visited, I noticed vultures were EVERYWHERE around the house. The back door was open that time too. We walked inside and noticed old couches and beds flipped upside down. It was definitely abandoned. As we got deeper into the house, it got so dark that we couldn’t even see the hand in front of our faces. Amber swore that she saw a man sitting under the broken up staircase as we walked by.That’s the thing that creeped her out. We slowly creeped up the stairs, afraid they were going to break. There used to be a balcony outside the house, but it was taken off, and all that is left was the small little room that lead to it upstairs. Inside the room, there was a rack that had really old dresses hanging on it. They were beautiful dresses. My aunt wanted to keep one so bad, but we were afraid that if we took one, a ghost would haunt us, but that was just a joke.
As we were driving out of the driveway(the house was on top of a hill, so there was a long driveway) I swore on my grave that I saw a woman in the top window. I can even describe her. She looked as an older woman, dark gray hair pulled up in a bun. Her dress was of a Victorian style with buttons and a collar. She was thin, and very pale, almost a bluish gray. The worst part was that all she had for eyes were dark holes. It scared me so badly. I told everyone but they didn’t see it. They thought it was my imagination.
A few weeks later, I was spending over Ambers house (She lives with my grandmother). I was talking to nanny (my grandma) and I told her my experience and described everything about the woman. She just stood there in shock after I told my story. I asked her what’s wrong, and she told me that I just described her grandmother. She also told me that her grandmother was born in that house, got married in that house, and died in that house. I never knew any of that until she told me, so that’s when I knew that what I saw was NOT my imagination. Even Amber began to believe me. Every time I think of that story, it gives me goosebumps. At this very moment I have shivers going down my spine. Now that house is burned to the ground. I visited it a few months ago, with just its ashes laying on the ground. The vultures don’t hang out over there any longer, and everything is gone. The only thing I found was a part of a sink about the size of my fist. Yes, I did keep it, and its in my room. I know its weird to have a part of my ancestors houses sink in my room but it was the only thing I could find to have a souvenir. I do miss that place, and wish it wasn’t burned to the ground, but now I do know that my great great grandmothers ghost is gone.

That definately is freaky! cool story.
Wow! That is a really cool story! Old houses and their history is very interesting to me!! Thanks for the story, Jenny
wow that gave me the shivers too!!!! thanks for sharing and yes it is to bad the house is gone. thanks for the really great story. peace be with you and your family!!
awsome story, but why dose you’re best friend live with you’re grandmother?
so tell me why was her eyes the way they were???
That was certainly one of the scariest stories ever but why did the house burn to prices?
ok, well, my cousin lives with my grandmother because her mother was too young when she had her and didnt want to take care of her.
I dont really know why her eyes were like that, it was just creepy though.
I guess they burned the house down because it was abandoned and they needed the land, im not really sure, but in a way im upset about it because my family lived there and it was old. I cried. lol
Do you think that her ghost is at peace now that the house is gone?
I don’t think so. I believe that it is the location of the house that she will be stuck at, not just the house itself. That’s why one day, I want to rebuild a house in the same spot and see if she is still there. If not, then that’s good and she was set free, and of course I will still live there, its an amazing location, and the outside is beautiful.
