I have tried two previous times to write this story and have not been able to finish telling this tale… I have had paranormal encounters off and on all my life but THIS experience terrified me and still chills me to the bone when I recall it; but it is time it was told… if whatever is trying to stop doesn’t succeed this time.
When we were first married, my husband and I lived in what we thought at the time was a cozy basement apartment. We had two rambunctious male cats Harry and Henry too. between living with neighbors above and those two rascal cats, a lot of the noises I could not place was thought to be one of them.
My husband worked a 12 hr day shift and would leave around 5:45 am. Most every morning I would at least wake up to see him off to work or at least tell him to have a good day…this particular morning I stayed in bed and gave him a “have a good day” as he headed up the stairs and outside to leave.. I quickly snuggled back into the comfort of the warm bed to sleep a few more hours.
I heard a shuffling noise from the closet and dismissed it for one or both of the cats. Then I heard what sounded like someone walking toward the bed… this made me come fully awake. We had at the time one of those extremely comfortable old fashioned beds with the springs made into the frame. But the bed was squeaky with those springs for support. Well, whatever I heard come toward my bed sat down and then laid down right next to me! I could hear and feel the bed go down as though another person was in the bed with me! I was absolutely terrified! But that’s not the worst part… “IT” growled a low deep inhuman sound and said; “I’ve got you now!” I swear as GOD is my witness my blood actually felt ice cold in my veins! I felt as though I was submerged in ice cold arctic water! I literally FLEW out of bed and up the stairs and outside! My parents lived close by and I sprinted to their house and slept on their couch until we all woke up a few hours later…
I told my husband what had happened but we were in no shape financially to move just then. For a few nights I stayed with my parents at night and we moved into the other bedroom too. I did research the house and the house had been moved from the country in to town years ago; as for the land it sat on and the basement dug out that we lived in; I found nothing unusual regarding the land… we did move out and I wonder to this day what on earth that was and if new tenants have experienced it too…

i know what you mean about your cats! i have 3 and although they are usually calm and quiet, i have heard some unexplainable things in this old place, (123yrs) i also have one of those old beds! my dad was thrilled to see it as he used to sleep in one with his siblings. that would definately freakith me out too!! i wonder why they would move a old house to town. thanks for your scary experience!! oh and tell your hubby to take a vacation with you, you deserve it after that!!!:)
Actually this happened years ago but I had been too scared even after all theses years to think about it let alone retell it. I feel 100% better that I got it out finally…..I wonder why they moved a farm house in to town too- strange isn’t it????
i dont get scared easliy,but that would of made me freeze.i would not be able to move.thats good you did some research.have you thought of telling the other tenants and see what they say?has anything else happen to you after you moved out of the place?thanks for the story.
Believe it or not, my sister in law and her family moved in there briefly and once I told them what had happened the kids slept out in the livingroom and they took the other bedroom..my sis in law said she thought that bedroom was always very cold but thank heavens nothing happened while they were there…..
AnNa, YES I do too! I think I was in fight or flight SURVIVAL mode! I shot out of that bed!
