Many Sleep Paralysis Experiences

Posted on October 13, 2009

Hi, just had that experience, that is why I am Typing this. I’ve been getting sleep paralysis since I was 13. I’ve had over 150 (give or take 50) experiences.

In the beginning I would be in paralysis and see nothing. I only felt frightened or terrified. About four to five years ago, I am almost thirty now, I have started to see things sometimes black, sometimes translucent hovering over my bed. It does feel like they are targeting your energy and consequently it seems to be in areas where chakra’s are located. I don’t practice Hinduism or tantric meditations, heck I’m not even sure if I spelt any of that right, I’m on an iPhone in the bed, lights on, right where it happens. I have seen many different types of entities, so their probably are more than one type.

I’ve been moved in my apartment for 4 weeks. The very first night I saw something that looked like me come in through my window. I never get these with the lights on. When I saw it I thought I was telling it “don’t look at me. I don want to see your face”! I then saw it creep along the side of the wall, and then felt “it” move around my neck area. It felt like I was moving as it passed by. Suddenly I heard music playing, it was guitar, it was beautiful. I was confused. I wondered if it was me recording my soul re-entering my body or something, but I could think, or so it seemed.

Two or three nights later, lights on, I wake up in paralysis again. Instantly I hear a low voice chant some type of language I’d never heard before. Instantly, when it had finished, I felt a very sharp pain as if someone had dug their thumb into my right shoulder, very pain-ful! I then was stuck for what seemed to be about 1 min. I tried to move my hands and when I did I was shocked to be able to see straight through them, like the movie “the predator” when he turns translucent. I tried to grab my phone, which I did, while being pinned down from my right shoulder. When I pulled my phone, which I could see in my peripheral vision(please exude spelling), but when it got in my direct line of sight it turned translucent as well, strange huh? Once I had finally regained control I find my iPhone in it’s place, not touched, and the pain persist for about 2 hours.

I’m going to skip the third encounter and go to the 4th. Just now I fell asleep and woke up in paralysis. I felt something on my left shoulder as I was on my right side facing the window. This time I felt a slight pain building up there(on my shoulder). I tried to get resist I asked if it had good intentions it made a cheesy whistling noise, obviously not. At one point, towards the end of this experience I saw the other way, but it was as if it smacked me away from seeing it. I then saw something light fly by my window. It was bright, glowing, and somewhat translucent. I then saw it come through the window and at my body. That is when I regained control, and decided to check the net.

A fair amount of people have been having types of sleep paralysis. I think their is something to do with this area. I keep seeing things come in through the window. And “it” definitely responds to my questions. I know it sounds crazy, but I am perceiving these things in a very detailed manner. Sure I could be crazy, but there really seems to be something happening thanks for reading. If you have any suggestion please tell. I have tried sleeping pills they do work, but seriously, I’m ready for it to stop not the perception of it, you know? Thanks again and goodnight.

    How scary!

You know, I don’t know if this works in your type of phenomena, but I have an exercise I do whenever I feel paranormally uncomfortable. It really seems to help. Whether or not you have any religious affiliation, you can incorporate any strength you get from prayer/meditation/religion into this technique.

I envision a really bright, white, pure light in the center of my being (around the heart area). Initially, it is about the size of a pin-head. I concentrate on it and place all my positive feelings into that light. I then immagine it slowly growing larger and larger until it surrounds me. Within this light you are protected and strong. You can also use it to surround others who might be near you.

This really seems to work well for me and may offer you some comfort and strength when you are in crisis mode. I hope you get some sort of relief from this.
    Best of luck!

I’ve had similar sleep paralysis experiences, I haven’t had one in years. Mine were very scary like I was being held down, there was also a sound associated with mine, like hydro wires on a really cold day, a type of buzzing sound. I didn’t have the visual experiences like yours but I used to see a ball of blue light come into my room, I could feel an entity that was very sinister and frightening. I had several paranormal experiences in the house I grew up in, but I found the night visitations with paralysis were the most frightening.

As a child I suffered enormously from night terrors…I do believe that they are purely evil in nature and mean you nothing but harm. They almost feel like there is a spiritual battle between God and the devil for your soul.

I believe my night terrors started when I was around 5 or so. They started getting much worse and happening far more frequently as I got older…I would also see shadow’s walking past my doorway on occasions.

Usually, I’m praying during the entire experience. Literally… I do not have them often, but I still do here and there.

Even though the ordeal can be a frightening one, I shall fear no evil!

Trust me, the name of Jesus is enough to break the trance…demons must flee. Use his name with conviction!

i know of a lot of people like that. in fact a few years ago it happened to my cousin. we kind of cheesy but my family is really into the supernatural in fact my two frandfaters are medicine men. for my cousin they put ashes on top of the window seal and a line of salt on the bottom. they kept coming in through the window as well and every since they did that for her she hasn’t woken up like that again.

Just wanted to thank everyone for your comments and suggestions. I have had one or two minor experience since the last post, no biggie’s. I want you all to know I take this all very seriously. The more I think about it all the more I conclude their is some necessity to these happenings and should probably just try to not let these incidents weigh too much on my mind, but they are reallllly intense and feel very very real. Thanks again :)

Hi, I write about this topic on my dream studies blog. sleep paralysis is a normal thing that happens, and you can sure it a number of ways. first, sleep hygiene: often SP strikes when we are sleep deprived. so try getting more sleep or sleeping more regular hours. two: don’t sleep on your back. SP is accentuated by back sleeping. Three: when in SP, try to breathe normally and wiggle your toes. this can break the SP quickly. any other tactic you may know to control your fear (prayer, etc) can also be helpful. good luck!

mine have often started by feeling as if someone sat down on the bed next to me. Thats what wakes me up and I realize I can’t talk or move. After some fight, a minute or so it all goes away.

Hey what’s up like you I have had hundreds of this sleep paralysis experiences. I am lying in bed right now just had an event sucks can happen to me several times a night. I am 30 years old now and it is still scary as hell everytime. I don’t care what anyone says there is something there I have found that sometimes if you just try to ignore the presence it will go away. Easier said than done. But what really got me was the part when you said you looked at your hands and they were translucent wow! That is what happens to me when I try to move it like this clear form of myself leaves my physical body. Thing is I can never get to far away from myself and then bam! I’m back in bed and fully awke. So strange.

Shane, that sounds like a sleep paralysis nightmare to me. I know you’re scared, so to reassure you: these things happen, it’s a normal (altho weird) artifact of the sleep state when the mind wakes up in REM sleep but the body stays asleep. the paralysis is biologically based, due to the cholinergic sleep pattern.

What to do? Take a deep breath and check in with yourself through whatever way you relax (prayer, take a walk, talk to a friend). I’d avoid taking naps on your back for a while.. often sleep paralysis also comes when we are sleep deprived or under stress.

One more thing: the vision you saw during sleep paralysis was essentially a “waking dream”, or what we call a vision. Just because the vision happened during SP doesn’t mean it is “meaningless.” Rather, this figure may have some sort of meaning for you, your mother, or your family of origin.. it’s worth investigating. Rest assured you are not crazy.

For more tactics, check out my book “Sleep paralysis: a guide to hypnagogic visions and visitors of the night.” I wrote it specifically for people suffering with SP visions.
