Imaginary Friend or Not?

Posted on February 3, 2011

I never claimed to see a real ghost or get involved in paranormal  things but one thing I can say though is the difference in energy surrounding an individual or a place. My family in every generation had someone who was out of the ordinary though what ever qualities the might possess were never prominent, just certain things that would allow them to sense things that others couldn’t .

When my parents built a new house I was really excited except it died almost immediately when we moved in. I could sense there was something wrong something was definitely making my senses uneasy. The thing I noticed the most was that my otherwise calm mother would lose her temper the second she stepped in through the threshold of the front door. At night I’d feel every hair on the back of my neck standing on ends it came to the point that the energy in the house was too much for me. I left to stay with my grandparents and never went back for 5 years.

Until my 3 yr old niece and her parents moved into my parents’ house I left and moved back into my house the energy was gone I couldn’t feel it and my mum was in a good mood I was glad as I thought things were normal that is till I met my niece for the 1st time I could feel it, what was it it wasn’t negative but it was there surrounding her. She was shy and went to hide behind her mum but soon being good with kids I got her to talk to me. She told me of her new friend who she called “Drew” she said drew was very “pwetty” and very nice to her. and that they were now best friends. Tanya ( my niece) slept in my room and every night I’d hear the creaks of the bed like someone was getting on or off the bed that and for a while I wouldn’t sense anything around her then it would be back.

The weirdest thing that happened was Tanya and I and of cause Drew were playing in the garden and Tanya’s dad was on a ladder putting up the Christmas lights. Tanya ran straight into the ladder and he fell straight on top of her except he was flung off of her against the wall. I was so shaken I could except a lot of things but that was too much. I decide that since there was no history to the house there must be something that must have drawn it here so I decided to go through all our family belongings that were passed down for generations I started with things that I had already inherited and were precious to me I sat on the bed and started going through the things to see if any of them gave of a similar vibe when I was just about done Tanya came into feeling sleepy. She sat on the bed and looked at the box and pulled out a picture that was right on top, smiling broadly she asked me “can I have this picture ?” I said “no sweetie its very dear to me” she frowned and said “but Drew is my friend not your’s.”

I said “sweetie is drew in this picture?”

Nodding she said “yes that’s him” pointing to the boy in the picture.

“Tanya have you ever seen a picture of drew before you came to live in this house?” I asked thinking that it was impossible.

“No,  first met him when I came here he was sitting on your bed he told me he wanted to be friends” she said sounding too serious for a now 4 year old girl.

I went to talk to my cousin I told her what I had learnt he seemed worried the boy in the picture was my older brother he die when he was 18 ,I was 16 at the time . His name was Andrew but what could have caused him to attach himself to Tanya I don’t know. It explained a lot why the energy was not negative around anyone except my mum she used to hate him even when he was alive.

But for now we’ve decided to leave things as they are when the time come Tanya will be able to do the right thing and do what has to be done to set him free.

    Hey Mareen.
I think its nice that your brothers spirit is looking after her. I don’t think it’s her emagination. Why would she make up something like that and recognise him in a picture if she have neva seen him. She calls him Drew. Maby she couldnt say Andrew so he told her that she can call him Drew. I wont be to worried if I were you. Atleast some one is looking after her and protecting her so that she won’t get hert.
    All the best
    Bekkie

why on earth would your mum hate your brother? i’m sure for some reason he was attached to your niece. unusual experience to say the least.

What a wonderful story! It would make a great movie! I woudn’t worry about your niece. She will be fine.

One of the bad things about folks who write stories on here, I’m sure, edit and re-edit. I presume that, during the course of trying to get a coherent story, the authors don’t really go back and re-read it with a fresh perspective. At any rate, mareen, I need a bit of clarification. You wrote:

“I left to stay with my grandparents and never went back for 5 years. Until my 3 yr old niece and her parents moved into my parents’ house I left and moved back into my house the energy was gone.”

So you left living with your parents in the new house and went to live with your grandparents for five years. Then when your niece and her parents moved in with your parents, then you went back? What made you decide to move back in with your parents when the house would have been even more full with extra people?

Sorry, just a bit confusing there.

      @ Jaybee
I don’t think that you sould worry to much about that part of the story couse its not important.
The story is about her realysing that its her brother who haunts the house and what the reason was for her mothers change in personality.
Who knows. Maby her mother needed help with all the extra people in the house. Maby her grandparents got to old to look after her.
But like I sayed thats not the important part of the story. It’s all about the ghost

That’s a nice story. At least he’s looking after your niece making sure nothing bad happens to her. But I wonder what made him so attached to her… And why your mom hated him when he was living…

  7. mary says:

cool story but mabey drew only attatched himself to her because he likes to take care of little kids
