I remember me my mum and dad were in the sitting room, my sister and brother were both upstairs and didn’t hear the story. We live in the north of England but moved here when I was three. I can’t quite remember how we got onto the subject but we were talking about the houses we used to live in. When my dad mentioned a house we don’t have any pictures of and I had never been told about. My dad began to tell me about the house and how ‘creepy’ it was. It was weird because as he began my mum stood up suddenly and said she didn’t want to be in the room because the story scared her, and she didn’t like remembering it.
My dad began telling me that when I was two they were house hunting on the South and back then they didn’t have much money and so were looking for a cheap house. He told me that an old woman used to live in the house but left because she needed care. My dad said when him and mum viewed the house it was horrible. It smelt, the stairs were painted black along with the floors but the walls were grey and white. Every door had at least two huge bolts on, even the bedroom doors. My mum said no to the house straight away, however my dad said it was the cheapest and some wallpapering etc the house would be fine.
My dad told me he then discovered from neighbors that the old lady was strange and they thought she may have some mental illness. They claimed she had hundreds (yes hundreds) of these little doll things. My dad explained them to me and said they were black dolls and when they were turned upside down they said ‘Mama.’
The first night there, me, my brother and sister where put to bed and my mum and dad stayed up for a while. My dad said that mum was acting odd and wouldn’t sit still because she felt uncomfortable.
It was a windy night and my dad said that the house was creaking. My mum got up and went to the window, she could hear something ‘mama’ to be exact. My dad said he heard it to and they began searching the house. When this continued each night my mum had had enough. My dad reckoned that it was a single black strip of paint on the window and each time the wind blew it sounded like mama. My mum wasn’t having it, we left and a year later we moved into my current house (which was also cheap, an old bank) its a big house and a lot nicer. Also another thing to add my Nan it a great believer in ghosts and when she visited us in our old house she said she felt really cold and uncomfortable. Weird.

ummm its okay this story but i throught the dolls would come to their house
ooooh creepy you must be thankful you dont remember that would freak me out!
I think this is a good story and I don’t blame your mum for not wanting to talk about that house, sounds horrible. She obviously sensed somthing was wrong and when you continually hear something, it’s hard to accept its the old wind blowing theory.
I enjoyed reading it!
i think tha you shouls have staied the ghost cannot run your life and with how young you were to have your mom to keep an eye on the dolls in the house. Dolls are easer to posess than humans. the ghosts objecteiv could not have been evil and leaving the house would be pointless.
good story kinda creeped me out i dont like dols neither does my friend ehhh !!!1
i hate dolls it really creeps me out just reading this story made me cringe …
Wow that was an interesting story. The dolls would have creeped me out to.I used to have a doll that would appear in different positions evey time I wake up….I finally threw it away.
I expected it to be more about dolls that were present in the home not that used to be in the home but the way you described them they were eerie dolls! You Mum seems especially perceptive to the paranormal… I think more went on with her than she has told anyone else… thanks for sharing. Glad you new house is working out much better!
