He just was there making noise and manifested once to you. It is possible that his wife is one of the other spirits haunting the house, and perhaps he did not want to leave her there. I grew up in a haunted house. The mason's wife died in the basement, I think that he was there cause he blamed us for his wife's death, there were 3 other's also who would change the t.v. channel on my mother when she was alone, walk up and down the stairs and even did manifest himself in front of me one night! He was not a trapped soul, he was looking for vengance cause his wife died there,but I can add that I am happy that I got to see a ghost, cause now I know that something does exsit after life! oh my, you may think that, about being trapped souls, but I totally disagree with you.
