In 2004, we moved from a small town in the western cape to a massive house in a gated community in Benoni, a gated community is sort of like a security complex but the houses has their own identity and no two houses looked the same, the houses were no older than 20 years, it was a field before being developed apparently. The house was an four bedroomed house, two bedrooms were very small, a master bedroom and a very large guest bedroom.
The first evening we moved we all slept in the guest bedroom as we had not yet had time to unpack the boxes. The first few weeks were very quiet, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, there were few weird happenings but nothing to write home about, misplaced items that type of thing. I took the large guest room as my bedroom much to the anger of my younger brother. He had to take the small bedroom. I woke up every morning the same time, early morning around two o’clock, I used to wake up with the door closed, I used to sleep with my door open, I thought nothing of it, thinking it might have been the wind, needles to say I couldn’t get back to sleep afterwards so I used to go and play some video games.
After a while I started waking up in the bedroom across the hall which was at that stage the guest bedroom. After weeks of this happening it prompted my parents to persuade me to move rooms (I couldn’t sleep after 2 o’clock in the big room but I could not recall actually walking to the room across the hall, so it was weird waking up). I did so thinking nothing of it, I didn’t believe in the paranormal, I wasn’t spiritual and I was an atheist, none of this seemed out of the ordinary to me, I attributed it to sleepwalking.
The first evening in my new room, everything was fine until everyone was asleep, at this stage it sounded like all the pots, all the pans, cutlery and plates were being thrown to floor, I was wide awake, the sound was unbelievable, I couldn’t believe that no-one else, it was so loud. I ran to my parents bedroom woke my dad up, I believed there was someone in this house and living in South Africa I believed we were being robbed. I told him to grab the pistol for safety. We walked through the house, nothing was out of place, the noise was gone, no windows broken, doors locked, burglar bars and safety on all doors. I went to cupboard my mom kept the pots and pans, it was all in place just like when she packed it the morning. We went back to our beds, as soon as my head hit the pillow, the sound started again, we repeated the whole shabang about 4 or 5 times that evening until my dad got sick and tired told me to go to bed, stay there and try to sleep.
This sound happened every night since then, you’d be forgiven to think that it was maybe the geyser or pipes, the problem with this, is there were two geysers, one of them was right above my parents’ room, the other one was right on the other side of the house, at this stage one of them was broken hence there was no electricity going to it, this was the one nearest to my room, still far away. The other problem was no-one heard except me.
After a while I gave up started closing my door, still heard it but chose to ignore it. I was so scared I didn’t want to walk to the bathroom. I waited till morning or opened a window. Some of my friends were scared of my house the one evening they were sleeping over, we were in the room, laying on the beds, joking around when all of sudden this blue light entered the room, the door was closed, I looked up, they pulled the covers over their heads and I saw a fuzzy blue ball at the door. I ran to put the lights back on, the door was open, we ran to the TV room.
On another occasion we were standing in the room talking when all of sudden a deafening scream just came out of nowhere it was like there was a little girl in the middle of the circle. They didn’t want to return they wanted nothing to do with our house. After a long while suffering in silence the one evening I hear my brother shouting out of his room, to stop playing around in the kitchen, I tell him its not me, so he walks to my room, sees I am in bed and naturally he is puzzled, I take him to the cupboard show him nothing is out of place, that puzzles hi,m even more ,as soon as we get back to our rooms it starts again and we are screaming at each other, I remember he asked when does it stop, told him that I don’t know, I scream back that I think it is a woman, I regret saying to this day as it answered me “yes I am”, luckily we relocated to another town, nothing has happened her thus far, I am glad and I believe.
