My Encounter With A Teenage Ghost Boy

Posted on September 23, 2008

When I was around eight or so, my Grandmother – Vanessa – would tell me stories about how she used to have an imaginary friend, well she didn’t believe he was imaginary, but her parents did. My grandmother has lived in the same house since she was born, which is a big old house just outside of the town’s main streets where she lives. The woods are just outside her house so you can see the border line. Where my Grandmother lives it’s usually really rainy and very green, though I still love it there.

Anyway, like I said, I was eight, and my Grandmother was telling me about how she had this best friend called Barren, apparently he was nineteen and she was ten when she met him. She would sometimes see him on the border line of the woods and when she would tell her family to look they would see nothing, though she could see him. After a while people started to think she was crazy, saying ‘It’s just your Imagination’ they even started to think they should put her in therapy. Though she refused saying she was just playing a joke, though she still saw him.

I was so pulled towards this story that my eyes were as wide as saucers, my Gran said that the boy was not evil, he was very nice and kind. And also incredibly handsome. Though no one else could see him, except her.

Two years later I was ten, and I was staying at my Grandmothers house for the school break. I was unpacking some of my stuff in my grandma’s old room, and I was trying to open one of the drawers to put my clothes in, though it wouldn’t budge. I tried yanking at it, my nails literally digging into the wood, though it still wouldn’t open so I sat down crossed legs on the floor, pouting and glaring at the drawer, and that’s when I heard a low sounding chuckle. I turned to where I heard the sound, but nothing was there. As freaked out as I was, I let it go.

A few years later my grandmother died and I was eighteen, We drove for hours back to her old house, where the ceremony would be held and also we would be staying the three night’s there, just to rest because we live hours away from her house. Anyway, when the ceremony was over, and they were picking up her coffin, I saw a body quickly running in further in to the bushes in the wood. Now the border line of the woods is at the back of the house a few meters away. I thought I was just seeing things so I didn’t think too much of it.

Anyway, that night I was staying in the same room I usually stayed in when I was at my grandmothers house, which was her old room when she was a kid. I was sleeping when I heard some soft cries. I sat up a bit, though my eyes had sleep in them and looked over to the balcony of the room. It was really dark and the moon was the only source of light so I could only see a little, though I still saw him. He looked more like a shadow from where I was, and he was sitting down, his elbows resting on his knees and his head in his hands. It looked like he was blonde or a very light brunette I couldn’t really tell, he was only a few years older then me, and that’s when I realized that this was Barren, and my Grandmother had not been lying. I croaked something out like “H-hello?” And the boy turned to me. He was very beautiful like my Grandmother had said, but I only saw his face for a fraction of a moment and then he was gone.

I woke up the next morning feeling slightly disoriented, I didn’t know whether it was a dream or a real thing, but I didn’t know. So I kept my mouth shut, not wanting people to think I was crazy.

The next night after that, I was sleeping again, when I felt something cold brush my cheek. My eyes snapped open and the boy I had seen the night before was looking at me, he looked slightly blurry, not very stable but he was still very beautiful, I was correct when he had just a very light brown color hair, or it might of been a darker blonde, but his eyes were blue. I swear I heard him mumble ‘you look so alike’ or something like that, I couldn’t really tell he was whispering or something, I was so scared and so shocked but I felt safe, so all I could do was stare up with big, very big eyes. Then I blinked once and he was gone.

The morning after that, it was the day we were leaving, I forced myself to think of all the events that happened to me as a dream. So I did. When we were all packed up and ready to leave I went in to the back seat of my dad’s car, and just looked towards the woods at the front of the house, as we were driving away I turned back and saw the same boy, I couldn’t really see him he was still blurry but I could tell he was smiling, and then he blurred away. I think I choked or something on my saliva and my mom asked if I was ok, I just nodded.

I found out from my Grandmother before she died that the boy she was friends with used to live in that house with his mom and dad like years, ago, like around a hundred years ago though one day he disappeared. Some people said that they last saw him walking into the woods, though after that he was never found again, and that’s when I knew it was not a dream.

I’m twenty two now, with two beautiful, blue eyed blonde boy’s. They are twins and they are only four years old. I’m also married to my great husband. I told him about the story and he seemed slightly freaked out, He told me he thought he saw his Grandmother one time when he was eleven, because she died of old age.

I still can never get over that boy, and I still think about him all the time, and it’s still very weird that my twin boys have the same eyes as his.

    wow…
    really touching….

That poor boy probably died in the woods and remains bound to the physical realm because he was never given a proper funeral. Usually where a spirit hangs is a strong indication of the location of the corpse…
You should probably bless your grandmother’s house and the forest outside so he can find the light and ascend into heaven.

    Really tragic….
and sorry to hear about your grandmother…bless her
Cheers to you and your family’s health and future
