I didn’t read everything, got to about 2/3 in 4 hours.

Personally, I don’t think vampires exist. I shall use Occam for that, as well as all the knowledge I posses regarding biology, physiology and physics (which is not everything, but extensive)

First of all, vampires can’t be dead (as in no heartbeat, brain activity etc.). The muscules of any being need to be provided with nutrients and oxigen, which requires blood to be infused, which requires a heartbeat.

Secondly, the odds of a vampire being truly immortal are bad. The only creature I’ve ever heard of that doesnt eventually die of old age is the “freshwater hydra”, a few mm long plant-animal. I’ve never heard of an immortal mammal, and it seems unlikely, as long as they breed sexually like us humans (bacteria can be regarded immortal)
Light skin, increased agility and strength, intelligence, beauty… All can be viewed as results of genetically inherited traits. I myself am quite strong for my muscle size, and I know for a fact orang-utans can generate twice as much force as we can using the same weight in muscule.

Retractable fangs… I doubt it. most predators have fixed teeth or ensure biting force, at least mammalian predators (snakes are different, but they lay eggs lol)

I see little reason to regard vampires as existant.

However, if we assume they are real, other things are to be said.

A virus could possibly alter an embryo from the moment of congestion, but it is known (and tested!) that mutations in the skeleton do not occur after birth. In other words, if you get bitten, you will not grow fangs, even if the other aspects of your body do change.

Also, a virus generally consumes a host. When people speak of “carriers” of a disease they generally speak of recessive genetic traits which are surpressed by healthy dominant genes. Virus can lay dormant too, but if they do, there is no possibility of distinguishing the carriers from the average population.

I’d like to propose a different option… endosymbiosis. there might be an extra organelle in the cells of a vampire that carries it’s own genes (such as genetic coding for fangs and pointed ears) and stimulates beneficial human genes (like producing telomerase for an endless cell cycle and activating normally dormant genes that produce denser muscules)
However I cannot think of any such altered human body that could not survive on simple food rather than blood. I’d regard such a symbiosis as one with low survivability… Blood is not always abundant and rarely given voluntarily. Also humans don’t breed very fast, so if you’d kill too many in a small town you’d quickly run out of lifestock.

To all vampires out there: try pigblood. Nearly identical to human blood, your digestive system should be able to cope.
Also, if there is any vampire out there that would be willing to donate a biopt of their muscule tissue to reseach, I’d be very appreciative. I’d ask for a blood sample… But I understand the irony. Trade you your blood for mine. I’d also like a mouth swab and I’d like to physically examine you, if it’s not too much to ask.
