This story has never been heard by anyone. I chose not to say anything because I know what happens when you tell someone you have seen a demon.
7 years ago when I was just 12 years old something happened to me that I will never forget. My life was altered that cold windy night. A few friends and I were playing hide and seek, like most little boys do. The neighbors did not care if we played in their yard, and there was a church next to that. We had plenty of room to play a good game of hide and seek, flash-light addition. It just so happened it was my turn to be the seeker. I had given everyone approximately 4 minutes to hide, we counted in the garage with the door securely shut. My 4 minutes were about up so I began my quest to find my friends, but that was not what I found at all.
I started going towards the church in search for them, but then doubled back. I was hoping I would catch them quick. I started walking down the tree line in my friends back yard. This was approximately 50 yards from the garage where I started. I heard some rustling in the woods, so I knew I found someone. Slowly creeping up on the sound all I could see was branches and tree trunks. Going deeper and deeper into the woods I began to feel like someone was watching me, but I knew it was not my friends. I just sensed like it was something else, so I started to get out of there, fast. I finally was out of the woods, and I then started to walk even further down the tree line. I heard that same noise again, so of course, I went back in to see what it was. I probably walked 15 feet into the woods again, and that is when I saw it…
My flashlight was aimed at the ground so I could see where I was going. The noise was about 15 feet in front of me. I slowly lifted my light upwards. I began to see strange grey feet, legs and a back. I dropped my light instantly. With only the moon as my light, I saw this shadow turn around. Standing motionless in front of me was a creature that I had only seen in horror films. It was about 6 foot 6. I can only describe this thing as being a demon. It had wings that were tucked behind itself, because I saw them before I dropped my flashlight. His arms were at his side. I could not make out facial features very well. I hate to sound cliche, but it did have glowing red eyes. It was a very faint glow, but a glow none the less.
At this point I was frozen with fear. All I knew was I had to get out of there. I slowly began to step backwards. Trying not to make a sound, but I knew my cover was blown. It still remained motionless as I was doing this. I was almost out now, and I could hear sticks breaking so I knew it was moving. When I heard that I started running out of there. I was standing in the backyard now, when I heard this loud swooping noise, like a giant bird taking off. I turned around and saw the most incredible thing I had ever seen in my life. This great creature was flying towards the moon and I could see it very large wingspan. It disappeared very quickly.
I was standing in the middle of the lawn speechless looking at the sky. I forgot we were even playing hide and seek at this point. I just walked back to the house and sat on the steps. Maybe 10 minutes later my friends came walking up asking me what I was doing. I guess they saw me sitting there from there hiding spot. They thought I had given up or something. I told them I was not feeling very well. Not letting on what I had seen. So we all went back inside. The rest of the night all I could think about was that creature. What was it? What did it want? Where did it come from? These were the things I was thinking of.
The next day I decided to draw, as best I could, what I saw…
A few days ago I was reading a story that I saw on “stumble upon” it was about people who have seen some pretty weird things. And this thing sounded like what I saw that night 7 years ago. What really gave me goose bumps (and I’m getting them now, for just thinking about it) is there was a a drawing that the witness had drawn… it looked exactly like what I drew.
There was a few more stories about this creature with even more drawings that looked like mine. They all called this thing, “moth man”
now I do not know if what I saw was the same thing all these other people saw, but I do know I saw something that I can not fully explain. I do not plan on telling my friends or family about this, because they would just laugh at me. I know what I saw, that is all that matters to me.

nobody here is going to laugh at you, it sounds like you had a real scarey experience.

I am also wondering what it is. Sounds like a negative creature in a movie yet it was in real life. I am glad it didn’t follow you or bother you ever since which is good. There are a lot of things in life we don’t know. We of course believe what you said. I am just not smart enough to help you figure out what it is,
Well I was not there with you to bare witness to your siting, I can understand the horror you felt as I myself have seen many strange things in my time. What you speak of does indeed sound like the mothman who has captured the attention of many as of late. I would not mind seeing your drawing or those of the others as it may provide some insight.

the first one sucked but the second one was pretty good.they were supose to have a third one but i dont know.i think they waited to long for a third on if they did make one.just to bad there not scary.

Why did you run away ? You should have tried talking with the creatue. It may have been friendly becuase it didnt try to harm you. Do not judge a book by its cover.
Id say he didn’t try to communicate because he’s not insane! I would have run too as I’m sure anyone would. Your story was scary I heard of the mothman I think there’s a movie about it too, maybe check it out?
Are you mad! That thing if it was evil (I don’t think it was evil or that it wasn’t permitted by god/Jesus to harm you, god/Jesus control the demons and are usually sent to test your faith to him) I think that anyone would have ran in my opinion you would be a fool not too.

Hm…I know I should be focusing on the creature you saw but hide-and-seek during the night time with flash lights?! Seriously that is so dangerous especially if its out doors, but as to what you saw I have no scientific explanation whatsoever; demonic wise I wouldn’t call it a demonic entity as they do not have a physical form and you said you can hear branches or some thing like breaking (not sure) I would say from a cryptozoological stand point that you may have seen a creature that has not been recorded yet. Although keep in mind if it is the “Moth man” it is said that if it appears disaster or a warning for a disaster is its reason for being seen so in which case I am forced to ask out of curiosity what happened after that the fabled (possible ) “Moth man” appearedbefore you?
I think a game of dark flashlight tag sounds like great fun…
My father as a child in Canada had a similiar experience involving something in the woods following him. He was walking home down a road when he heard something in the woods following him. After running scared home his dogs chased after whatever the creature was. They were gone for about four days till they finally came home. It is the fear of not knowing what it was that makes terrifying to think about. My mother even claims to have seen a bigfoot like monster sitting on the banister of her stairs when she was a kid in Kentucky. My family apparently is prone to the wierd and supernatural of this world. Me on the otherhand I have not experienced anything of note yet. Maybe when I get older something will scare me, hopefully not though.
Leo, I know exactly how you feel about your family not understanding. The only person that understands me and is exactly like me is my husband.
That is really freaky! I have always wanted to see something like that. I think it would be awesome! But I would probably be terrified!! I definitely think what you saw was demonic. As I was reading though it sounded like the jeepers creepers dude lol. But definitely NO mothman! That was demonic!

the moth man is not a demon but a cryptid
cryptozoology is the study of hidden animals like bigfoot lochness ect not much is known about the mothman ecept that he generally apears when somthing bad is about to happen hope i clear somthing up but freaky story

hey everyone this is leo again, most of you seem to think that something bad is suppose to happen when this thing is seen… a week or so after this, my church burned to the ground in the middle of the night, no cause was identified….
i didnt say anything about this before because i didnt link it with what happened to me…
