Dad Visited Me The Night He Died

Posted on June 4, 2009

The ghost of my father resounds in my minds eye, and, memory quite often I’m now sixty years old, this paranormal experience started for me on January 28th 1968 I was 18 yrs old.

My father passed away at the age of 41 years on Jan 28, 1968 at  exactly 7:30 am. The reason I am so sure of the time is we were both sitting next to each other watching a TV comedy called F Troop, it started at 7:00 PM and ended at 7:30 PM. Well, when the show ended my father also ended, he had a massive heart attack at approx. 7:30 PM. I immediately called the emergency number of that time period and on that evening, being an eagle Scout at the time, I tried to revive him with CPR to no avail, By the time the EMT came to try to revive him, he was already dead.

Well, in my neighborhood where I lived as a child in Manchester, N.H. I lived by a church that marked the hours with  bells. The night my Father died at approx 12 Midnight,or 12;30 AM my Fathers ghost was visiting. The reason I know the time was because the household was so shook up after his passing, I stayed up and watched the Johnny Carson show and decided to go to bed at about 12:30AM. At the time my bedroom had a wooden accordion door with a locking latch on the inside. My room had white curtains on the one window I had.

Well after a few minutes of being in bed that night my room became very cold. The curtains started to billow in the wind, but their was no wind. The windows were shut, it being January, then  as I lay in bed the latch on my door clicked open, a very distinct sound. My accordion door opened briskly. Sitting up in bed I stared at the open door, seeing nothing, and instinctively said, “Dad is that you?” The room warmed up again, and I didn’t have another paranormal experience  again for approximately ten to 20 to 25 yrs later, that ghostly night I figured, well that was my fathers spirit bidding me farewell.

25 yrs later I was in my finished basement in Hooksett N.H. waiting to go to work. I was lying on the couch in complete  darkness. I worked third shift. I was lying on my back staring at the white suspended ceiling when suddenly my Fathers image, from the waist up, appeared to me. He was wearing his favorite red and black plaid long sleeve shirt, he was shilling down at me. When I looked up and saw his image it appeared as if he was floating at the ceiling level. He disappeared as quickly as he appeared. I haven’t had any more paranormal experiences since then, who knows what the future holds? My younger sister just passed a few years ago!

This is sad, but also encouraging at the same time; he loved you very much. I had an experience at the moment my mother passed and I know in her last breath she called for me. Parental love has no boundaries.

On a ligther note, I used to like watching F Troop myself!

Wow im terribly sorry for your loss, but your story is amazing. It reminds me of a story my mom, my grandma and a few of my aunts told me. You see my great grandma died 15 years ago last month, close to her birthday i hear. And i never got to meet her, well because she died 3 months before i was born, but i guess the night she died my eldest aunt was in the bathroom and everyone else was in the living room, and she heard the backdoor open, and my great grandma’s slippers dragging to the side of the house, which led nowhere. No one heard it but my aunt, but everyone believes her. My grandma still believes her mom is watching over us all. I only wish i could experience her presence, only because i was never honored with the chance to meet her.
