Hi everyone, I love reading your stories.
In the summer of 1970 seven kids in our neighborhood (one was my sister) went hiking in the woods near where we grew up. This hike ended at the Community Cemetery about 1/2 mile by road from our house.
Since they went through the woods they came out at the back gate, when they got there they were hot and decided to go inside to cool off and rest before they started back to the house.
This cemetery was always strange to me, it’s always cool no matter how hot it is there is a cool breeze blowing inside the gates.
As the kids went in they noticed that under hill between 2 trees there was a casket with a blanket over it, they went a little closer to see if they could tell who all was there. When they could see through the trees they noticed that there were no people no tent no chairs just the casket with blanket.
As they got closer they could tell this casket was raw unfinished wood. They went closer, when they got to it one of the girls being very brave lifted the blanket. All of the kids were looking, they all told the same story. The old man was lying there with his hands crossed and was wearing a very large ring. While they were looking he opened his eyes and looked at them, they scattered and came back to our house. After my mom got them to calm down, they told their story. My mom and I went back to the cemetery to close the gate that kids had left trough and to see what had scared them. We closed the gate and walked through the grounds and found nothing out of the ordinary.
My sister is 52 now and still will not go into that cemetery not even to a funeral, she said there was something there and she doesn’t want to every see it again.
I went to a funeral there a couple years ago and the air is still cold inside the gate, One of the girls believes the old man was trying to tell them something and my sister will agree anytime you ask her. The old man was trying to tell them to STAY OUT OF THAT CEMETERY and she says she definitely will. Does anyone have any other ideas on why this bunch of kids saw this.
Thanks for reading it, I’m not a writer.
