On this trip, we decided to ride around the side roads on the perimeter of the battlefields, past some of the older homes and farms. We heard distinctly the sound of cannon fire and tried desperately to pinpoint the location. When I inquired later about where the event was taking place on the battlefield, I was informed there was none that day, although the two of us clearly heard cannons firing several times.
