The best selling board game in history, many people believe that the Ouija Board is an ancient tool used to contact the spirit world. Some even claim that the board dates back to 540 BC.
However, while similar devices have been used since ancient times, the Ouija Board was actually patented on February 10, 1891. But, to this day, who actually invented the Ouija Board is still a subject of debate.
Some historians claim that the board was invented by E.C. Reiche, a coffin and cabinet maker. In 1886, Reiche sold his rights to the spirit board to the Kennard Novelty Company owned by Charles Kennard and several associates. But, many believe that the board was invented by Elijah Bond since his name is listed under “inventor” on the original patent documents.
Regardless of who really invented the board, Kennard began producing them in 1890 and sold them for $1.50.
Charles Kennard once stated that he got the name Ouija

I wish I knew how to start this. It began in November/December 4 years ago. I was a freshman in high school then, and now I’m a senior. My friend at the time and I were messing around with an Ouija board and learned I had a spirit in my room that stuck around at all hours. He was a rather mean spirit. One night I had gone out and an empty glass on my mom’s desk fell off and moved across the room. My dog was sleeping in my room, eager for my return, my cats were in their usual locations far from my mom’s bed room. After hearing that, my friend and I were scared so we took holy water and said the St. Michael’s prayer around my room.
We had thought it was over. But a week later another one came back. For three days straight, I’d come home from school and see a pair of my …

I want to be clear I try to call myself a good Christian however sometimes I go astray. When I was in elementary school I met one of the loves of my life, Crystal we grew up together, did everything together, I didn’t have a sister so she was it.
I would like to tell you that Crystal and I had a crazy experience with the board but we tried all the time every Halloween and in between, we would get hold of some spirit who couldn’t spell or made no sense at all, that’s not the creepy life changing part of the story I am trying to tell. I am 31 now when I was 24 Crystal and I grew apart, she got into drugs bad, she hated me because I couldn’t follow her down that path at the time I had 2 kids already.
I got the call 1 year after the last time we had exchanged not …

I’m 40 years old. I have played with the Ouija board many times in the past with friends and had never had a bad experience. I always thought it was just for fun.
In February of 2010, we just moved into a new home In Michigan. It was all updated, looked so beautiful but was actually built in 1980′s. I know since it was a new house, we heard noises and we all accused each other of who left the lights on after I know we turned them off etc.
At night when I would stay up watching TV and everyone else was a sleep. I swear I would hear someone walking around in the kitchen. I even got up thinking my son got up but no one would be there. Another night, when it was just me up, I heard a door open and foot steps. Again I thought my son got up cause his room was on the …

I was curious about two things a necronomicon and a Ouija board and I used both around the same few days.
After I used the necronomicon things started happening such as a photo of me being knocked over and this thing would call my name using his voice which was in a growl or in my gram’s (Grandma’s) or my Dad’s and he would use their voice and make them sound as if they are angry with me; and at night I would hear heart beats and sometimes a feeling of being choked.
One night I actually saw it it had either one or more eyes (I don’t completely remember what it looked like) what I do remember is that it had several fangs and horns, black scale skin, kind of like a lizard or a snake and it made a sound which was like a combination of a pig and a woman screaming.
Then in the morning I saw …

You probably wont believe me but every word of this story is absolutely true.
When I was fourteen, I was watching my younger brother while my mother was out shopping. We were watching TV and my brother was slowly dozing on my lap. At about 8 pm it was dark out and I was just about to carry my brother to his bed.
Just when I stood, I heard something crash from the second floor. Like a box or something. Being too terrified I ran for the phone to call my mom or the police. I called my mom first. I told her there was someone in the house that knocked down a box. Hearing the terror in her voice she said she’d be home as soon as she could.
Twenty minutes later I was outside with my brother with him sleeping on a blanket I brought out for him. My mom climbed out of the car and ran inside …

~ Brief Note from the Author ~
Ok so I’ve been reading through all the true stories on here, and thought I’d contribute. What I’ve noticed is that most of these stories are about BAD experiences, but no good ones. It’s giving Ouija Boards a bad reputation that they don’t deserve. Research them, THEN do one. (All people are 17)
~ Actual Story ~
It was one week before Halloween, on a Friday afternoon. I was excited for the simple fact that I had been waiting for today for several weeks. I’M finally going to do a Ouija Board!
It was about midnight (12 AM) when we started. (We being myself, and my two friends; Jane and Linda [Names changed for privacy])
We set up the space. Being a Wiccan, I had already done extensive research on Ouija Boards. So we set up the board on a small, circular table. (Yes, you should use a circular table) …

My last story was about my dream-catcher spinning at night. (The Dream Catcher) But this time it was a smaller dream-catcher pendant that my aunt gave to me. This is what happened:
Last weekend I was with my friends hanging out, like normal teens, and we decided to meet up with each other later that night. So we went our separate ways for an hour or two, I don’t know what my friends did, but I went home. Before I left something told me to take the small dream-catcher with me [when I say something I mean like intuition/a sense of foreboding] so I grabbed it a headed out the door.
We walked around for a while until we ended up at my friends house, and after we sat down my friend john pulled out an Ouija Board, [By the way there were 8 of us Me, John, Claire, Joe, Will, Emily, Cathy and Suzie]. Emily and I …

I have a Ouija board story. In 1998 while living in Houston, Texas my sister and her husband came up to visit from a small out of town city where they were living at the time. Being one who likes to try different restaurants, and given the vast number of famous restaurants in Houston, my sister wanted to go out to eat a nice dinner. She picked one in the “Galleria”, a famous mall in Houston.
My sister is also an avid Barbie doll collector and noticed a famous toy store across from the Galleria. Apparently the toy store has Barbie dolls that are hard to find, and she wanted to go in and take a look. While there, she bought a Ouija board. She is also very superstitious.
After dinner we went back to my apartment and she immediately opened the board. Myself, my wife and my sister sat at the table to try it out. My brother-in-law would …

Hi there here’s my story of my experiences with spirits. The first time I ever saw a ghost that I can remember was when I was 13ish so 10 years ago now, I was ill so had spent a couple of days sleeping it off in bed I was finally getting over the bug and was watching TV in bed one night when I laid back onto the pillows something caught my eye on the ceiling I looked up and there was a face looking down at me. I was terrified frozen in my bed then whatever it was, was floating down towards me it was almost to the bottom of my bed when I ran screaming into my mums room in tears she didn’t seem surprised by what I’d said and let me sleep with her I never went back to my room instead me and my mum switched rooms.
About a year after that night I was hanging …
