A Haunted House In The Suburbs

Posted on October 13, 2008

I have lived in the same house for three years now with my mom (I’m in my first year of high school). It’s over one hundred years old and has a very detailed history. Here are a few of my more interesting ghostly/demonic encounters:

In the first year that I moved here, I was constantly frightened of my bedroom door. It would always swing open for no reason. I decided to blame this on the draftiness of the house, but even on windless days it will move with a certain eerie aura.

From the first year I moved here I was constantly afraid of my closet door that was in my bedroom. There appeared to be a perfect shape of a man’s face staring out at me. At first I dismissed it as being a pattern on the mahogany wood, but the more I paid attention to it the more detailed it got. And it was always there, no matter which angle I looked at it from. Finally I started avoiding going into my bedroom by getting dressed in the bathroom and sleeping on the couch in the living room. I finally told my mom about the face, and she went into my bedroom. She prayed for about an hour over my door, and the next day…the face was gone. Completely washed away. A warmth had entered my bedroom.

Last summer I stayed up late every night. One night I was on the computer. The computer looked out into a window that’s right outside my front porch. As I was typing something I saw my porch light go on. It only goes on if somebody walks by it. I looked out the window and heard the unmistakable sounds of somebody walking up my porch steps. Yet, I saw nobody.

The next night, once it was dark, something strange caught my eye out the window. It had looked like a cloaked figure walking across my front porch to my door. I ignored it, assuming it was my imagination. Only, every night after that it persisted. I kept seeing the same thing out of the corner of my eye. Finally, one night, I looked straight out the window after seeing the cloaked creature. I assumed it was just my imagination, and would disappear if I tried to look at it directly. But it didn’t! I was staring right at the figure. It stopped for a moment and I swear I could feel it turning it’s head to look at me. After that, I decided just to ignore the figure. After months and months it still hasn’t gone away, although I do see it less often. Sometimes it will come in the evenings when my mom’s still downstairs. I haven’t told her about it, though. I believe it’s a demon trying to come into my house, but it can’t.

One morning, at about 2 AM, I got up to go to the bathroom. You know how when you switch on a light there’s that extremely short, less that a millisecond pause between when to switch and the light and when the light actually comes on? Well, as I was turning on my bathroom light, an extremely detailed picture came into my head within that moment, before the light had actually turned on. I know it’s real and that I didn’t just conjure it up out of nowhere.

This picture that I saw in my mind was of my bathroom, only standing above my sink was a tall, skinny demon. It have scaly, flaky, fleshy skin every shade of blue imaginable. It had the slight body of a human–I mean, it had two legs, two ears, and two arms and everything. But it had large pointy ears similar to the shapes of a dogs ears and it was bending at places where humans can’t, like it was different joints then us. It was standing, leaning against my sink in an odd position. It’s head was tilted at nearly a ninety degree angle and it was looking right at me, flashing an evil grin.

I walked into the bathroom and could feel and evil presence. I raced out as fast as possible.

On another night, I got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. I paused before entering, and from the downstairs I could hear a man whispering and what sounded like my backdoor swinging, even though my backdoor is permanently lodged in place. We can’t open it. I raced into my mom’s bedroom, thinking there were robbers downstairs, even though our neighborhood is very safe. She checked downstairs and nobody was there. I believe to this day there were ghosts downstairs.

These are my stories. I’ve learned to not let them scare me, because demons thrive off of fear, I believe. I hope you liked them!

Cool story. WE NEED TO BECOME PRAYER WARRIORS TO FIGHT THESE THINGS.

  2. Kurt says:

ya, those prayers your mom said knocked it out for a bit but it looks like it wanted to get back in. It sounds like it succeeded, so you should have your mom pray in the bathroom. Have her teach you the prayers so you don’t have to keep bothering her also.

I like your theory that demons feed off of fear and to not be afraid. It’ s a good idea. I’ ll remember that. By the way good stories.

This house wouldnt happen to be in PA would it? Anyhow, the scaly demon with blue skin, was probably an Elemental, a Water-Spirit. Can you tell me what other features this thing had?
